Originally selected as hunting and Retriever dog, the Golden Retriever is a perfect companion dog, with an elegant and sweet loog: it is sociable, obedient, with an inborn predisposition for work, it is also very intelligent and affectionate even with children. But it is a breed subjected to hereditary diseases such as leg and elbow dysplasia, inborn heart conditions and inborn oculopathies. We recommend to buy a puppy only from a certified breeder that can guarantee for its breed selection through pedigree and parent’s health status.
How much does a Golden Retriever puppy cost?
The price for a good breed Golden Retriever, tested and with a pedigree from a professional breeder recognized by ENCI ranges 1,200 to 2,500 Euros.
Usually its prices range from 1,000 to 1,500 Euro for the English bloodline most widespread in Europe: generally, it has a light color and a wavy fur with lower ear junction and massive body.
The American Golden Retrievers selected from the better bloodlines from the North and South America are slightly thinner, narrower eyes and higher ear junction, and their color can vary from cream to red.
Since they are most widespread in Europe, their prices is quite higher, a puppy can cost up to 2,500 Euro.
If you decide to contact a family-run farm, its price could be lower, but you should contact a professional one that can also guarantee the good health of the parents. Beyond the price for buying a Golden Retriever you should also consider what you spend for buying all it needs: it is not a dog that needs a particular grooming, but you need to constantly buy its quality food, about 60 Euros per month for an adult dog.
