The Golden Retriever is a British origin dog born in Scotland when Lord Tweedmouth in 1968, crossbreed a yellow Retriever and a Tweed Water Spaniel. It is born as a hunting dog or retriever, but its features and being adaptable, sweet, meek and friendly make it perfect as a marvelous companion dog. Since it has strong olfactive skills it is used by Civil Protection to save people during avalanches, buildings crumbling and saving people at sea.
Elegant, affectionate, loyal, nice with children, connected with the family, with which is strongly devoted, sociable even with strangers and other animals, the Golden Retriever is a very intelligent and active dog.
Golden Retriever, its price
But how much does a Golden Retriever puppy cost? We recommend to contact professional breeders recognized by the Italian Kennel Club (ENCI) that can guarantee the pedigree and the good health of the parents.
The price of a Golden retriever of a tested puppy with pedigree is 1,000 – 1,500 euros, but some particular breed can go up to 2,500 euros. This depends on the line, since there are two types of Golden Retriever: those of the British line and those selected with the best bloodlines of North and South America. They can have different color, but both have the fur that can be cream or dark red.
In Europe the American Golden can have an higher price since it is less common, but we recommend to buy the puppy by breeders with proven experience that test their reproducers for dysplasias, but also for ocular conditions and for all diseases that can occur to this breed.
If you contact a family run and not professional farm the price can be slightly lower around 1,000 Euros. Then you should consider buying high quality food for an adult Golden Retriever that is around 60 Euros per month.
